Review of How Awful About Allan
This is an extremely adventurous psychological thrilled revolving around a
man who has lost his vision after a tragedy that affected both him and his
family when he was still a kid. While there is technically nothing physical
wrong with him the tragedy has none the less affected his subconscious and now
years later he still can’t see. After he accidentally set a fire that killed his
father (who was no treat) and leaves lifelong scars on his sister he still can’t
get past the disaster. Anthony Perkins plays the adult Alan struggling with the
past and portraying a man who has been through more than any one person should
ever have to face.
After having been institutionalized for years, he now lives with his sister.
Perkins does a fabulous job of playing a psychotic individual. Julie Harris
portrays his sister and does an admirable job of it in the process. Both brother
and sister are dealing with money problems as well as the issues from their
past. To make ends meet they rent out a room to a boarder. Things really take a
turn for the worse at this point.
Alan then begins to hear strange voices and feeling as though there is some
unknown force that is out to get him. Full of plenty of suspense, you’ll be
sitting on your seat the entire time throughout this film. An exciting story
line and superb acting make How Awful About Alan a film that is a true delight
for those who enjoy a good horror/psych flick.
