Review of Devil Times Five
The plot of this film revolves around a group of sociopathic children who escape
from a psychiatric transport, after it crashes. The bus driver is killed and the
five disturbed children on board the bus manage to get away and take refuge in a
nearby resort that has been closed for the season. A local crime boss by the
name of Papa Doc, portrayed by country and western singer Gene Evans, and his
son are in residence along with the rest of his group. Not realizing the true
identity of the kids, they take the kids in and provide them with refuge.
As for the kids themselves, their characters are rather interesting. One is
under the impression she is a nun while another is convinced he is a child movie
star. Yet another appears to be a mini-soldier and even dresses the part. The
kids, who range in age from 10 to 14, slowly proceed to play wicked mind games
with the adults and mete out physical torture.
This is truly chilling film, perhaps even more so due to the fact that demise of
the unfortunate is at the hands of children who all have a mental illness. Be
aware there are numerous gory scenes, including shootings, stabbings, hangings
and more. This is definitely not a film for young children; however, if you are
a lover of horror, this is an impressive film.
