Review of They Call Me Trinity
The storyline of this film revolves around a drifter named Trinity (played by
Terrence Hill) who finds himself with nothing much better to do than to wander
around the countryside with his horse. He drifts into a particular town where
his brother Bambino (portrayed by Bud Spencer) just happens to be the sheriff.
His brother has a particular dislike for him, even going so far as to hate him
because Trinity appears to pretty much be a troublemaker and that just doesn’t
set well with his Sheriff’s conscience.
So, he attempts to get his brother to leave town by pulling out all of the
stops. Unfortunately for him, Trinity stumbles upon the fact that his brother
isn’t actually the sheriff. It turns out that Bambino shot the real sheriff and
took his badge, believing the real sheriff is dead.
Trinity decides that he will try to blackmail his brother with this knowledge
but Bambino doesn’t seem to care. This is because a gangster by the nickname the
Major is in town and is of a mind to kill a certain group of Mormon settles to
get them out of a section of valley land that he wants for himself. Bambino
finds he needs help from his brother to prevent the gangers from committing the
dead while at the same time taking the gangster’s stallions.
If you like comedy and western genre films, you’ll love this movie. It expertly
combines comedy and a western backdrop. Just in case you’re interested, there is
also a sequel to this movie, “Trinity is Still My Name.”
